Support group

Loss is a universal event, yet grief is an individual experience. This is the philosophy of a Grief Support Group offered in the West End. The group explores the role that grief plays in the healing process.

Discussions are held in a caring, supportive and respectful environment. Through sharing of experiences, they talk about issues related to adjusting to life after a loss, as experienced either through the death of a loved one, divorce, job or other loss. Each discussion is determined by the group members.Topics include coping strategies and resources, normal grief reactions, different kinds of loss, anniversaries of events, culture and ceremonies, and how to ask for help. The group meets for a 13-week program at the Effort United Methodist Church on Merwinsburg Road, Effort, on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. New groups are now forming for the program to start in mid-September.For more information call (570) 629-1890.
