State police at Hazleton apprehended a man and woman from Carbon County after an early Sunday morning burglary at a Hazle Township. store.
Troopers responded to a commercial burglar alarm at Northeast Gold and Silver Exchange, Church Hill Mall, 1063 N. Church St., at 4:33 a.m. and upon arrival found that someone had indeed broken into the store.Jeremy D. Gothard, 38, of Lehighton, and Sara T. Lucykanish, 22, of Lehighton, were found in a parked vehicle nearby.Gothard had numerous coins of various denominations, and there were more in the vehicle, troopers said in a press release.Both he and Lucykanish were taken into custody, charged with burglary and related offenses.Gothard was taken to Luzerne County Correctional Facility, Wilkes-Barre, after being unable to post $200,000 bail set during his preliminary arraignment, while Lucykanish was taken there on $100,000 bail.Troopers said they checked the mall complex and found a smashed interior window at Northeast Gold and an ATM in the front of the business that was damaged in an attempt to remove cash.
