A Palmerton woman was struck by a vehicle as she was walking in the borough Tuesday morning.

Borough police Chief Randy Smith said Annelise Donadt, 85, was walking in the 200 block of Delaware Avenue at around 9:12 a.m. yesterday when she was hit by a car driven by Shane Wheatley, 21, of Walnutport.Smith said Wheatley entered the parking lot at 241 Delaware Avenue, the offices of Manzella Family Healthcare, when he slid on the snow-covered road and ran into Donadt, who was knocked to the ground upon impact.Donadt was transported by Palmerton Ambulance to Palmerton Hospital for treatment, Smith said.Charges are pending against Wheatley, he said.
