Monroe crash leads to DUI count

A Monroe County driver, who fled the scene of an accident, is facing charges including driving under the influence.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers responded to a report of a crash at 1:55 a.m. Sunday along Route 940 in Pocono Lake. On scene police discovered that a vehicle had left the road, snapped a utility pole in half and came to rest in a wooded area. The driver, later identified as Christopher Nicks-Vanlouvender, of Pocono Lake, fled the scene.He was located a short time later and found to be under the influence. He also suffered injuries and was transported to the Geisinger-Wyoming Hospital in Plains Township, Luzerne County, for treatment and a blood test.Police said the DUI charge is pending the test results.
