Area businesses cited by PCLB

Two area businesses have been cited by the Wilkes-Barre enforcement office of the state liquor control board for violation of the state liquor code.

Palmertoni Magyar Szovetkezet, trading as the Palmerton Hungarian Club, 317 Lehigh Ave., was cited for violation of section 314 of the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act, and Section 901 of the Department of Revenue Regulations. The state claims on Nov. 12, Dec. 2, 2010, and Jan. 10, 12, 14 and Feb. 18 and 21, the act was violated when funds derived from the operation of games of chance were used for purposes other than those authorized by law.The club was also cited for failure to adhere to by-laws during the period of Jan. 1 to Feb. 23.Also cited was Wildwood 115 Inc., trading as La Roma Pizza & Madd Anthony's Bar, HC3, Box 2517, SR115, in Blakeslee, Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County.The business was cited for issuing checks or drafts in payment for purchases of malt or brewed beverages when the licensee had insufficient funds in, or credit with, the insitution upon which drawn for the payment of such checks.These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious ones. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought.
