April 12, 2003 Marian's Nate Phillips and Chris Gugliemini both earn gold medals at the annual Mount Carmel Track and Field Invitational. Phillips takes the high jump with a leap of 6-4 while Gugliemini earns first in the 400 with a time of 52.47. Three other TIMES NEWS area athletes claim second-place finishes. Tamaqua's Matt Wagner is runner-up in the triple jump while the Raiders' Eileen Gurcsik gains second in the 200. Panther Valley's Becky Lukac also earns a silver in the javelin.
