The Coaldale Lion Club named Dr. Joseph J. Dougherty as its first "Citizen of the Year" during ceremonies held at the Viennese Villa, Coaldale. Dr. Dougherty, a Summit Hill native, has practiced family medicine in Coaldale for more than 35 years. He was presented with the award by Lions President Harold Kinn. He is married to the former Lorraine Dever of Jim Thorpe. In 1973, Dr. Dougherty was the recipient of the Shamrock Award by the Pantehr Valley Irish-American Association.
