Robert "Bob" Marouchoc has announced his candidacy for a four-year term on the Nesquehoning Borouogh Council. He is seeking the Democratic Party's nomination in the May 17 Primary Election.

He grew up in Nesquehoning, attended the former Nesquehoning High School and East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, and spent over five years in the U.S. Army in Military Intelligence.Marouchoc followed his military service with over 35 years of federal service, retiring in 1998 as the Deputy Director for Intelligence for the U.S. Army in the Pacific. During his federal career he attended numerous management training institutions, including courses at the

F.B.I. Academy in Virginia, OPM's Western Management Center in Denver, Colo., and the U.S. Navy Post Graduate School in Monterey, Calif.Since his retirement, he has spent most of his time in Nesquehoning and is involved in several civic committees. He is a member of the Carbon County Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the Carbon County Citizens Corp Council.Marouchoc is also the borough's representative on the Panther Creek Advisory Committee, and is president of the borough's Civil Service Commission.He is a member of the

V.F.W. and American Legion posts, both of Nesquehoning, and a 50-year member of the Elks.Marouchoc served on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers/Sisters of Honolulu, Hawaii, and was chairperson for game-day promotions for the Hula, Aloha and Hawaii bowls.For over 25 years, he was president of the board of directors of a 38-story, 144-unit condominium, overseeing an annual operating budget of $1-million.He has a married foster son.Bob would bring a wealth of management, operations, planning and budgetary experience to borough council, as well as promoting a "team effort" that was essential during his professional career.
