A Carbon County man pleaded guilty in the county court on Tuesday to assaulting two state troopers and a local police officer.

Daniel Wassil, 25, of 2947 Wetzel Run Rd., Packer Township, Weatherly, pleaded to two counts of aggravated assault and one count of simple assault before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Wassil was arrested on Nov. 28, 2010, when state police at Hazleton were called to his residence to a report of man throwing items and ripping apart clothing.Upon arrival Trooper Michael Borosh identified the person as Wassil and found him in the bedroom of the residence.Wassil appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, Borosh noted in his complaint. While Borosh was speaking with Wassil the defendant became enraged and kicked the trooper in the chest causing him to fall to the ground. Wassil then punched the trooper.Borosh attempted to subdue Wassil but the supsect attempted to punch the trooper again and a Taser was used on him.Wassil was briefly subdued but then recovered from the Taser and began to fight with Borosh and Trooper Robert Christman and Weatherly police officer Geroge Keifer, both who arrived to assist Borosh.The three officers then attempted to subdue Wassil, who struck Borosh with a chair and attempted to strike Christman and Keifer with a chair.Christman was kicked by Wassil and Keifer suffered a thumb injury. Wassil was eventaully taken into custody after police were forced to use a Taser on him again.When asked by Serfass if the facts as recited by District Attorney Gary F. Dobias were correct, Wassil responded, "I don't remember anything."Serfass accepted the plea but deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation to prepare a presentence invesitgation (PSI) report.Wassil, who was committed to the county prison on $100,000 straight cash bail at the time of his arrest, is currently free having been released on March 24.
