Tasty Maid Bakery comes to Jim Thorpe

Lehighton area residents Roxann and Matthew Strohl have opened their fifth bakery at 38 Broadway in downtown Jim Thorpe.

They have a 4,000 square foot bakery in Reading, where everything is baked, and bakeries in Palmerton, Leesport, and Boyertown in addition to the new Jim Thorpe location.According to Roxann, their first day of business in Jim Thorpe was "pretty good" with an assortment of donuts, bagels, muffins, bear claws, sticky buns, apple dumplings, pies, cobblers, danish, cookies, and whoopies for sale.Much of what they produce is Pennsylvania Dutch with one of their best selling items being sticky buns, which are made in five different varieties : plain, walnut, raisin, walnut & raisin, and coconut.Another popular favorite, bear claws, are made in many different varieties also, such as: vanilla; chocolate; peanut butter; maple; cream cheese; and filled with blueberry, cherry, peach, or strawberry.Tasty Maid Bakery also makes about 30 different kinds of donuts as well as Persian donuts and wedding bells.With over 400 recipes, the varieties of baked goods rotates from day to day with five or six different types of donuts available at one time.Anyone desiring more information about Tasty Maid Bakery can call Roxann at 484-464-3874.At present, the bakery is open Thursday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
