A Carbon County driver was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Lehigh County on March 16 about 4:31 p.m. State police at Fogelsville said the accident occurred along SR22 at the intersection with Interstate 78, in Upper Macungie Township.
Troopers said Jan F. Horwath, 59, of Kutztown, and Jeffrey J. Raines, 41, of Jim Thorpe, were engaged in a road rage incident while westbound on 22 prior to merging onto I-78. Troopers said Raines moved into the left lane of I-78 westbound when Horwath pulled next to him in the middle of the westbound lane. Horwarth then passed Raines on the right but did not clear in time and his 2002 Mercury Mountaineer collided with Raines' 2011 Nissan. The impact caused the Mountaineer to spin around in a counter-clockwise manner, cross the center line and went onto the north berm. The vehicle then struck the concrete barrier two times before coming to rest on the berm.No one was injured. Troopers cited Horwath with roadways laned for traffic.
