The Carbon County Board of Commissioners ratified a "declaration of disaster emergency" incident to the March 13-14 blizzad that struck the region, a move aimed at recovering $761,440 in estimated snow-removal costs for its municipalities. The commissioners sanctioned actions taken by Carl S. Merluzzi, the county's emergency management coordinator, in coordinating the activities of the emergency response to alleviate the effects of the disaster. Most of the area was hit with about two feet of snow from the storm.
