A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, along SR61 at Manheim Road, in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Shannon Ashfield, 33, of St. Clair, was driving a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Islander southbound and attempting a left turn when she made the turn wide and struck a concrete curb along the west berm. The impact caused the right front tire on the vehicle to deflate. The incident was observed by Orwigsburg police officers, troopers said.Troopers stopped the vehicle near E. Main St. and found Ashfield to be under the influence. She failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the barracks for a breath test.She will be charged with DUI, troopers added.
