The House Transportation Committee voted this week to send to the full House a bill introduced by Rep. Julie Harhart (R-Northampton/Lehigh) to designate a portion of State Route 145 in Northampton and Lehigh counties as "The Battle of the Bulge Veterans Memorial Highway."

The bill would make the intersection of State Route 145 and Long Lane Road in Lehigh Township south to the intersection of Route 22 in Whitehall Township as part of the already existing commemorative highway."This designation honors our service men and service women who so bravely sacrificed their lives for our freedoms," said Harhart. "I am privileged to play a part in lengthening this memorial highway in honor of our World War II veterans who fought in this historic battle."House Bill 438 now heads to the full House for consideration.
