Two persons escaped serious injury Sunday afternoon when the tractor trailer they were operating careened off a bridge along I-80 in Monroe County. The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. as the rig was being operated eastbound in Pocono Township. For some unknown reason the driver lost control sending the rig off a bridge which carried I-80 over Sullivan Trail. I-80 and SR611 were all but at a standstill for hours. PennDOT crews at the scene stated the occupants of the rig climbed out of the wreckage unharmed. State police at Swiftwater did not release the driver's name, but said he was a 28-year-old from Troy, N.Y.
