A steady stream of model train and railroad enthusiasts of all ages attended the Spring Train Meet of the Carbon Model Railroad Society which was held in the Palmerton Area High School Gym this past weekend. The meet featured model and toy trains, books, railroadiana, private collections, test tracks, operating layouts, dealers, historical societies as well as refreshments and door prizes.
Garry Mack, president of the Carbon Model Railroad Society, said that society is based in a retired chapel in Bowmanstown which accommodates about 2,000 square feet of model railroading.
In addition to this Spring Train Meet, the society will also be holding a Christmas in July Open House at 529 Ore St. in Bowmanstown on five days in July as well as a Holiday Open House at that location during some weekends in November, December and January.
