Mahoning Township taxpayers can rest a little easier as supervisors agreed 4-0, with one member absent, to approve a tentative budget for inspection that holds the line at 3.75 mills again for another year, meaning that residents will not see an increase in their taxes for 2011.

"The budget for next year is $2,143,588 which does not contain a tax increase for our township," said Chairman John Wieczorek, who told those in attendance the millage rate remains at 3.25 mills for general purposes, 0.25 mills for fire protection and 0.25 mills for roads and machinery.The tentative budget was approved for public inspection with a 4-0 vote. Supervisor Frank Ruch was unable to attend the meeting.The budget will be available in the township office for the required 20-day period and will be permanently adopted sometime in December.In other business, supervisors also approved a request by Mahoning Valley Ambulance Association President Bob Miller to have the township solicitor Tom Nanovic review the paperwork for a low interest $50,000 loan the association is trying to secure for itself. Miller said past solicitors have assisted the association with previous loans and would need a letter after the review, certifying the loan paperwork was checked.Supervisors agreed 4-0 to authorize Nanovic to review the paperwork and provide the assistance requested by MVAA.
