Ralph Friedgen will be retained as Maryland coach next year.
Athletic director Kevin Anderson made the announcement, which came late in a turnaround season for the Terrapins. After going 2-10 last year, the Terps are 7-3 and still in contention for the Atlantic Coast Conference title.Friedgen has one year left on his contract after this season. After that, offensive coordinator James Franklin must take over or he receives a $1 million buyout.This is Friedgen's 10th season as head coach at his alma mater.
