A Jim Thorpe driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence.

Borough police said at 3:50 p.m. on April 12 they were dispatched to a domestic incident at 215 Fern St., involving an intoxicated male who was leaving the residence to purchase more alcohol.Police were given a description of the vehicle the male was driving and he was later located in the area of Fairview Beverage, 1215 North St.The driver was identified as Edward Andrew Hernandez, 59, of 215 Fern St., Apt. 2. He displayed signs of intoxication and was belligerent with officers. Hernandez was uncooperative and refused to perform field sobriety tests while cursing at officers.He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and taken to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. Hernandez refused to submit to a blood test.Charges have been filed, police said.
