DUI arrests reported

Three driving under the influence (DUI) arrests were reported by Pocono Mountain Regional police.

About 11:22 p.m. on Oct. 30 officers conducted a traffic stop along SR196 in Coolbaugh Township for failing to drive within its lane of travel. The driver was identified as Mario Esteban Avala, of A Pocono Country Place, Tobyhanna. Police noted the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Avala. He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI. He was also charged with endangering the welfare of children as he had three young juveniles in the vehicle with him.He was taken to the DUI Center in Stroudsburg for a blood test.About 1:37 a.m. on Nov. 5 officers conducted a traffic stop along SR196 in Coolbaugh Township for failing to drive within its lane of travel. The driver was identified as Andrea Marie Milito-Alvardo, of Tobyhanna. She was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. She was taken to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.On Sunday, Nov. 14, about 2:31 a.m. officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed along SR940 in Pocono Lake, Tobyhanna Township. A traffic stop was made on Onocop Drive off 940. The driver was identified as Shane Curry, 23, of White Haven.He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
