Lehighton to host first-ever Christmas Caroling in the Borough

Lehighton residents in the mood to hear the harmonious sound of joyful religious songs are in luck.

From 6-8 p.m. Sunday, the Lehighton Parks & Recreation Board will sponsor the inaugural Caroling Night for the residents of Lehighton Borough, including the Heights section.

Any household that would enjoy the sounds of the Christmas season may simply turn on their front porch light, according to Louise Christman, recreation board member.

“We just hope it’s going to be a nice addition to the trees in the park, and to bring the community together in the celebration of the season,” Christman said.

“It’s a community event to try and enjoy the season a little bit better.”

Christman said groups that will sing Christmas carols include the Zion Opera Workshop, Lehighton Lioness/Leos, Lehighton Fire Department, Pale Moon Players, Bethany ECC Church, and St. John’s Church in Mahoning.

She said the groups will meet at the borough municipal building and go from there.

“I’m just overwhelmed with the people that have volunteered to do this, all the churches, the groups that have come on board that want to do this,” Christman said.

“It’s heartwarming; I’m hoping it will be a good night.”
