Hit-and-run investigated on I-81

State police at Frackville are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County on Saturday

Trooper said Tricia K. Zimmerman, 22, of Pitman, was driving a 2013 Ford Escape southbound at 6:55

p.m.in the right lane when another vehicle began to pass her. The other driver swerved partially into the right lane, striking the Escape. This caused Zimmerman to lose control of her vehicle.The Escape spun 45-degrees clockwise and slid off the right side of the road. It then impacted with a jersey barrier and became airborne for about 35 feet, vaulted over the barrier and landed against an embankment. The other driver fled southbound.Zimmerman and her passenger, Charles Z. Zimmerman, 34, of Pitman, were both wearing seat belts and were not injured. Damages were termed severe to the Escape.Troopers said pieces of plastic from a Honda hub cap were found at the scene and paint transfer and part numbers showed that the striking vehicle was a white Honda Accord, about 2003-2008 model year.The striking vehicle should have right rear area and rear wheel damage.
