Nesquehoning Borough Council reappointed President David Hawk and Vice President Mary Fox at their annual reorganization meeting on Tuesday. There are no new members taking office in 2018.
Mayor Sam Kitchko, an independent, was sworn in for a second four-year term.
Hawk, a longtime council member and also an independent was sworn in for a four-year term along with Democrat Rosemary Porembo. Porembo was appointed to the board in 2016.
Michael Radocha and Fox, both incumbents who won their seats through write-in campaigns this fall, were appointed to a four-year term and a two-year term, respectively.
David DeMelfi and George Sabol III were absent.
Council reappointed Robert Yurchak as board solicitor. They appointed John McArdle as fire marshal/emergency management coordinator.
Robert Stempa was approved for a term on the Nesquehoning Water Authority.
Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank and Mauch Chunk Trust Co. were named as the borough depositories, and Kirk Summa and Co. was appointed borough auditor.
Council will hold its 2017 meetings at 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month, with the exception of December, when the meeting will be held on the third Wednesday.
