Tobyhanna commander to attend State of the Union

U.S. Rep.  Matt Cartwright announced that his guest to the 2018 State of the Union address will be Colonel Nathan M. Swartz. Col. Swartz is the 32nd commander of the Tobyhanna Army Depot, one of the region’s largest employers.

Prior to coming to Tobyhanna, Col. Swartz held leadership positions in the 1st Armored Division Friedberg, Germany; the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Fort Campbell, Kentucky; the 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; the 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; and the 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. He has completed multiple deployments to Southwest Asia.

His military decorations and awards include the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal.

Cartwright represents Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District, which includes Schuylkill County and portions of Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, and Northampton Counties. Cartwright serves on the House Committees on Appropriations and Oversight and Government Reform.
