Pocono Mountain Regional police nabbed a fugitive on Dec. 18.

According to a report issued by officer Steven Mertz, Jason Mitchell, 30, of Tobyhanna, was caught at Beach Side Drive and Recreation Drive at 1:24 a.m. when police stopped a car whose driver was arrested for driving under the influence.Police noticed an odor of marijuana in the car, which they impounded. Mitchell initially identified himself to police as Sean Richardson. He ran into the woods when police tried to arrest him.They joined with Pocono and Barrett Township police, tracking Mitchell for an hour and 15 minutes before catching him. Mitchell fought with police, and refused to give his name.He was also charged with resisting arrest, escape, loitering and prowling at night, and disorderly conduct.Mitchell was also wanted by police in another area.
