Local Roundup: Results from Oct. 14

The Jim Thorpe girls and Weatherly boys soccer teams both posted wins on Monday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Nativity-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe’s Lydia Wallace had a hat trick to help the Olympians close their regular season with a 6-0 victory over Nativity.

Wallace, who also had an assist in the contest, scored her three goals in the first half as Thorpe held a 5-0 advantage at the break.

Nikki Ivan contributed a goal and an assist to the winning effort, while Lexi Marotto and Nicole Carroll also had goals. Mackenzie Yuhas chipped in with an assist.

The shutout was the ninth for the Olympians (11-6-1).

BOYS SOCCER

Weatherly-Nativity

Weatherly snapped a tie with four unanswered goals and went on to post a 6-3 Schuylkill League win over Nativity.

Elijah Derr scored three goals and added two assists for the Wreckers, who improved to 9-6 overall and 7-5 in the league.

Dakota Kane, Trevor Loman and Chad Obert also scored for the winners, who were tied 2-2 early in the second half before taking control.

Tyler McKendry, Antonio Colecio and Nick Pleban all added assists, while goalie Dalton Tompkins made 22 saves.

JR. HIGH BASKETBALL

8th Grade

Panther Vy.-Weatherly

Panther Valley defeated Weatherly, 44-25.

Mikayala Yuricheck led the Panthers (10-3) with 15 points, while Maddison Maynard tallied 13. Kaidence Krapf scored six points, and Ashlee Zimmerman added five.

Bethany Houser had a game-high 16 points for the Wreckers (4-7). Taylor Davidovich added five points.
