Man in prison after lying about his ID, place of birth, to police

A Hazleton man is in prison after lying about his identity and place of birth to police.

Sergio Urzula-Aldana, 22, of the 300 block of E. Diamond Avenue, faces charges of false identification to law enforcement, obstructing administration of law or other governmental functions, failure to keep right and driving without a license.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Charles McFeeley Jr. of the Weatherly Borough Police Department:

On Tuesday, officer McFeeley was parked and out of his vehicle at the Original Italian Pizza in Weatherly. He saw a gray Toyota SUV pull in the lot. A waitress identified the driver as one of the owners.

McFeeley said police were conducting an investigation with Immigration and Custom Enforcement at the business earlier that day with immigration agents.

McFeeley attempted to walk outside to make contact with Urzula-Aldana in which he fled a vehicle, so McFeeley got into his patrol car and saw the vehicle on East Main Street traveling at a high rate of speed.

As McFeeley was behind that vehicle, it crossed the double solid yellow line and fog line, which prompted McFeeley to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver identified himself via a Pennsylvania state driver’s license as Oscar Ortiz.

Upon the immigration agent’s arrival, he determined that Ortiz was lying about his identity and his place of birth.

The man then identified himself as Urzula-Aldana.

A subsequent interview with Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the station showed he was here illegally.

Urzula-Aldana is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9:45 a.m. March 7 before District Judge Joseph Homanko of Weatherly.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.
