Game Commission fines man in wildlife trading

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man has been fined for trying to trade animal parts at a Native American gathering.

Lancaster Online reports (http://bit.ly/2kwNbvV ) 63-year-old John Palfreyman, of Bradford County, was charged after trying to trade a river otter skull for an eagle skull to an undercover agent at a powwow in Adamstown in 2015. Palfreyman and 20 others were caught in a two-year undercover operation by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.The Bradford County native was convicted of bartering game and violating the federal migratory bird act. Palfreyman originally appealed the conviction but withdrew on Monday. A judge has ordered Palfreyman to pay a $1,519 fine.Agents found wildlife parts that including whole bald eagles, bear skulls, and geese feathers during the operation.---Information from: LNP,
