Northern Lehigh School Board has scheduled a special meeting for 7:15 p.m. to interview candidates for the open board seat.

The board extended the deadline until 4 p.m. today for candidates to apply for the post after no one had previously applied to fill the seat as of noon last Thursday.

Director Debra Bower resigned from the board last month due to health reasons.

Whoever is chosen to fill the seat will serve until 2019. At that point, the seat will be only a two-year seat to complete the end of Bower’s term, which expires in 2021.

Bower was appointed to the board in March 2016.

She replaced former Director Natalie Green, who resigned from her seat in February 2016.

Green was originally appointed to the board in June 2010.

The board’s regularly scheduled meeting will follow the special meeting.
