Police: Man stole 'armful of liquor'

A Schuylkill County man has been charged for a burglary that occurred late last month.

State police at Frackville said Keanan Kopas, 20, of Middleport, has been charged with breaking into Fast Frank's Place, located in Middleport, that occurred on Sept. 30.According to troopers at 1:54 a.m. a neighbor of the business heard glass smashing and stepped outside.He observed a man walking out the front door of the tavern, which was closed at the time. The man was walking down the middle of Coal Street carrying an armful of liquor bottles. The neighbor then toldthe man to put the liquor back, but the male kept on walking and turned right onto Main Street. The neighbor did not pursue the man.Through the course of the investigation Kopas was identified as the person involved and that he took six bottles of liquor and threw them into a stream which runs parallel to Coal Street.The investigation also revealed both video surveillance of the crime being committed, as well as dried blood that was discovered on a piece of broken glass.Troopers said Kopas smashed the glass on both the front door and a back door and entered through the back door.The six bottles of liquor were valued at $136.94 and the damage to the two doors was estimated at $350.On Oct. 5 troopers charged Kopas with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
