Robert W. Smith Jr., 52, of Kunkletown, is facing charges of simple assault as a result of an incident that happened at 10 p.m. Saturday at a residence on Valley Road West, Polk Township, Monroe County.

The victim of the assault is a 34-year-old man of Brooklyn, New York.Police said they were called to the residence for a report that the victim was physically assaulted by three men. Upon arriving at the scene police said they observed that the victim suffered injuries to his facial area. He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, in the West End ambulance for further treatment.Through the investigation, police said it was discovered Smith had entered into a physical altercation with the victim, resulting in the charges being filed against him.
