McAdoo Police have filed charges against Jose Ruiz, 42, of South Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, in connection with an incident on Nov. 29, 2015.

Officers were dispatched to 242 S. Kennedy Drive in response to an open line call to the Schuylkill County 911 Center. The dispatcher spoke with a woman at that address, who said her ex-boyfriend took her son's vehicle without permission.At the home, officers learned that Ruiz and the woman had been arguing before he walked out the back door and drove away in a white Honda Odyssey. She suggested he might have gone to Hazleton to buy beer.Other police departments were notified, and within 20 minutes the Odyssey was spotted driving on Route 309, headed south toward McAdoo.Police stopped the vehicle in the area of the North Kennedy Drive/Grant Street intersection.Ruiz admitted taking the Honda so he could drive to Hazleton for beer. He also admitted drinking "five big beers" and driving without a valid license. He was unable to perform field sobriety tests as he was deemed to be too drunk to stand upright unassisted.He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license.
