Tamaqua man charged with terroristic threats

Tamaqua police filed additional charges against David John Brode, 22, of 534 Pine St., Tamaqua.

Brode had been wanted by police in connection with an Oct. 8 burglary at the Salvation Army, as well as for making threats against two women.On Oct. 22, officers received a report that he had assaulted one of the threat victims, banging her head against a wall, twisting her neck and throwing her to the ground. The victim had bruises to her neck, feet and legs.Officers picked him up on Oct. 26 and arraigned him before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, on the charges from the burglary. Bail was set at $10,000, which Brode was unable to post.While searching Brode before his arraignment officers found a rolled piece of aluminum foul with burned marijuana residue in his pants pocket.The victim was granted a protection from abuse order, which Brode violated on Oct. 31, calling her from the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.He now also faces charges of indirect criminal contempt, aggravated and simple assault, making terroristic threats, harassment, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
