Man charged in spray painting incident

Michael Perry, 33, of 309 Bellevue Road, Pittsburgh, was cited by Tamaqua Police in connection with a spray painting incident on Nov. 25.

Tamaqua Police were called to the area of the Tamaqua Public Library on South Railroad Street, at 7:43 a.m., after two men were seen spray painting a wall behind the library. When officers arrived, the men fled northwest, toward Hunter Street.One of the men, Perry, was tackled as he ran by a woman who lives in the area and saw the officers giving chase. The other male jumped over a wall on to Cherry Street and was able to get away.Perry told the officers he was only watching a street artist, whose name he didn't know, at work. As an artist himself, he noted he often watched other people spray painting walls when he lived in Pittsburgh. He admitted to always running away when police arrived, due to his being scared.He was cited for simple trespass and disorderly conduct.
