A Slatington driver was involved in a two-vehicle crash at 3:25 a.m. Saturday along Chestnut Street in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Jed Merkel, 58, of Slatington, was driving a 2011 Subaru Forester southbound downhill and approaching a 2007 Ford Expedition driven by Jonah B. Wonerow, 20, of Glenmoore, Chester County, which was stuck facing east and partially blocking the southbound lane. Merkel attempted to stop, but due to icy conditions and a down grade, he was unable to and his Forester struck the Expedition. Upon impact the Expedition spun around and came to rest facing west in the northbound lane. The Forester came to rest in the southbound lane 50 feet from the point of impact.Neither Merkel, Wonerow nor his three passengers were injured.
