State police at the Fern Ridge barracks are investigating the following cases.
• An Albrightsville woman is the victim of a theft, fraud and forgery. The incident was reported at 9 a.m. Feb. 13 at a Bishop Circle location in Penn Forest Township. The victim told police she had been contacted by someone wanting to make a donation towards her ministry. After consulting with them via text messages, she was asked to assist with the donation by contributing $500 toward music equipment. Police said the woman honored the request by wiring the money via Western Union, after which time the equipment was never shipped. The total loss is $540.• An identity theft case was reported at 11 a.m. Feb. 14 ata Wintergreen Court, Jackson Township, location. The victim is aStroudsburg woman. She told police she attempted to apply for unemployment benefits and was informed her Social Security number had been used by another person in Massachusetts. Police said the employer of awoman who lives in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, was informed of the incident and the woman was asked to produce proper identifying documentation but has not yet done so.• Someone stole checks from the checkbook of a Saylorsburg man, wrote out the checks and forged his signature to obtain $2,340 from the victim's bank account. The incident happened between 3 p.m. Nov. 10, 2016, and 3 p.m. Feb. 6 ata Warner Drive, Chestnuthill Township, location.
