Band of Brothers keeps rocking

Having played together for four decades, it's not hard to see how Band of Brothers chose their name.

Three members of the classic rock outfit started playing together in the 1970s. Over the years they've seen success, lean years and everything in between, but they still remain loyal, according to drummer/vocalist Terry "T-Bone" Deibert."We all consider ourselves brothers. We've never parted ways since the mid-70s," he said. This year marks the band's first appearance at the Palmerton Community Festival. They will play at the bandstand Friday night at 5:30 p.m.Deibert said the classic rock tracks that the band plays span a wide range, but they prefer songs that they know will take listeners back to the first time they heard it."We try to do a variety of music where every song just hits home," he said.In many cases, the songs have been a part of the band's repertoire going back to the days of their youth. Three members, Deibert, singer/keyboardist Myron Haydt, and bass/vocalist Kevin Kresge, found success together in the 1980s under the name Erick."We played it while it was on the charts, and we're still playing it," he said. After all that time, it would be understandable if their interest in the music had waned. But Deibert said that the band, now featuring guitar/vocalist Dave Balliet and guitarist Grant Carter is as strong as ever. And he says he sees a new generation of classic rock fans emerging at the band's shows."The classic genre really carries on," he said. "We see more younger kids in the crowd than we ever did before."
