The Mahoney Brothers don't just play cover songs - they fully immerse themselves in the experience of some of the most famous bands of the 1960s and 70s.
"Whatever it takes to look like the original artists," Tim Mahoney says. "We spend years studying video so we can get the nuances down as close as possible."In what has become a regular feature Palmerton Community Festival, the band will close out Saturday's festivities on the main stage from 8 p.m.-10:30 p.m.According to Tim Mahoney, during that time they will transform into between 8 and 10 different acts -- everything from Neil Diamond to Buddy Holly, and of course the Beatles. The show is tightly choreographed - while one brother is singing, another will duck off stage and change into costume for the next song."The show has a specific order it has to run so everything has to come off smoothly," Tim Mahoney said. And they will be bringing their Eagles' tribute, the newest in their repertoire, to the festival for the first time.In order to tackle a new artist, the band buys costumes, wigs, even instruments to match the band's."All the instruments are replicas, we have exact Beatles guitars," Mahoney said. The band usually tours around the East Coast, so shows like Palmerton are almost like a homecoming event for them."Palmerton is a really nice festival. The park, the stage and the technichians we work with are all top notch," Mahoney siad.
