May 16, 2001 - Three area athletes claim two individual gold medals at the District 11 Class 2A Track and Field Championships. Tamaqua's Liz Manness, Marian's Mary Horvat, and Northwestern's Lindsey Snyder all win two events at Blue Mountain. Manness captures the 800 and 1600, while Horvat takes first in the shot put and discus. Snyder betters the field in both the high jump and triple jump. Other TN gold medals are won by Tamaqua's Ricky Cipko (800), John Henne (triple jump) and Margaret Benny (110 HH), Marian's Al Donadi (100) and Stan Dakosty (400), Panther Valley's Kerry Frank (110 HH) and Diana Bruch (javelin), Northern Lehigh's Bo Tkach (javelin) and Lacey Strohl (400), Palmerton's Travis Hand (discus), and Jim Thorpe's Chelsea Mullins (3200).
