Seven enter guilty pleas in Schuylkill County court

Seven people who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin.

Kodie Allen Defour, 21, Pottsville, for burglary of two private homes was sentenced to serve nine to 23 months in the county prison beginning Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. He was also ordered to pay $100 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), make restitution of $1,387 to Westfield Insurance Company and $150 to Catherine Davidson, Pottsville.Heckmat Sobhi Ammar, 21, Danville, on charges of simple assault was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, make restitution of $1,303.70 to Edward Mark and $2,156.80 to Edward Emerich, of Cressona. On a charge of harassment was fined $300.Joseph J. Brennan II, 24, Ashland, on a criminal conspiracy to commit theft charge was sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison beginning Sept. 23 at 10 a.m., pay $50 to CJEA and received credit for having served 29 days in prison. On charges of criminal attempt to commit theft at the R&R Quick Mart Store in Girardville and recklessly endangering a clerk by pointing a pistol, was sentenced on each count to serve 12 months probation to run concurrent with the prison sentence.William Deway Cole, 29, Mount Carbon, for theft of a pickup truck was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, perform 10 hours community service and make restitution of $894 to Charles Watcher, Pottsville.James John Constanty, 52, Orwigsburg, on two driving under the influence (DUI) charges was sentenced to serve eight days to 12 months in the county prison beginning Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. and shall be given immediate parole on completing his minimum sentence, pay a fine of $1,300, pay $400 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $150 to Catastrophe fund, $100 to CJEA, $120 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, receive intensive outpatient counseling and driver's license is suspended 24 months.Derek Paul Kroh, 30, Pottsville, for delivery of a controlled substance in Pottsville was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional institution with credit for serving 181 days in the county prison, pay $50 to CJEA and $100 to SAE fund.George V. Shuler, 31, Gordon, for possession of an instrument of crime (firearm) was placed on probation 23 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. On charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia received concurrent 12 month probation sentences.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
