State Sen. John Yudichak, D-Luzerne/Carbon, announced today that the Greater Hazleton Community Area New Development Organization was approved for a $500,000 low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Investment Infrastructure Authority.
The low-interest funding will be used to rehabilitate the McAdoo Industrial Park’s water storage tank. The project consists of a complete rehabilitation of the exterior and interior of the tank. Painting, mixer installation, installation of a safety climbing system, and installation of a lockable ladder gate will all be included in the project. The water tank is part of a noncommunity system, providing drinking water to commercial tenants with a population of approximately 400 people.
“Pennvest was founded to help job creators and the general public attain funding to upgrade their environmental infrastructure, in turn creating more opportunities for economic development,” Yudichak said.
“We love working with Pennvest and we’re obviously very pleased that this project was approved for funding. This important infrastructure project is a must for our 12 tenants and approximately 400 workers in the McAdoo Industrial Park and a must for the continued economic growth in the area,” said Kevin O’Donnell, President of Can Do.
Pennvest was founded on March 1, 1988, and serves the communities and citizens of Pennsylvania by funding sewer, stormwater and drinking water projects.
Yudichak worked with state Sen. David Argall, R-Schuylkill/Berks; state Rep. Jerry Knowles, R-Schuylkill/Berks/Carbon; and state Rep. Doyle Heffley, R-Carbon, to secure the funding for this project.
