Flash flood warning continues into tonight
An area of showers will continue to move northward across eastern Pennsylvania through dawn. Downpours may create localized ponding on roadways. Remember to drive at a reduced speed in case you encounter any water on the roads. Up to one-half inch of rain is possible through 630 a.m. Also, some wind gusts up to 30 mph are possible with the showers.
The flash flood watch continues for the region through late tonight. Showers and scattered thunderstorms will develop today and continue into tonight. A tropical airmass will support areas of heavy rain, especially if there is training of showers and thunderstorms over the same area. Rainfall amounts over 1 inch in an hour are possible, locally higher amounts are possible where there is training of showers and thunderstorms.
Excessive rainfall within a short period of time can lead to rapidly rising water and flash flooding, particularly in urban areas and along small creeks and streams.
