Pleasant Valley sets modified schedule

Pleasant Valley School District has announced how the first week of school will go after a mold problem in its intermediate building derailed its initial schedule.

According to a release on the district’s website, Pleasant Valley high school, middle school and elementary will open Tuesday at the regularly scheduled times.

Pleasant Valley Intermediate, which houses the fourth, fifth and sixth grades, will remain closed through next week and possibly longer as the mold abatement process continues.

In the meantime, intermediate and elementary students will be operating on a modified two-day rotation schedule at the elementary school building until the abatement process is complete and the building is remediated.

“We understand that this schedule is less than ideal,” the district states. “We remain committed to providing all of our students an exceptional education and will work diligently to ensure a smooth transition as we proceed through this process.”

On Tuesday and Wednesday, elementary students will report to the elementary school.

On Thursday, the intermediate students will report to the elementary school.

School will be closed for all students Friday and Sept. 3.

An abbreviated schedule for the week of Sept. 4 and beyond has also been posted on the district website at https://bit.ly/2MM76bL

Transportation will run on the normal schedule, the release states. Students should report to their bus stops at their assigned time on the days they are in session.

The intermediate school administration will also be hosting a parent information session on Monday, beginning at 6 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria.
