On Tuesday, the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America, students in Mrs. Kelly’s second-grade class at Tamaqua Elementary School learned about the events that took place well before their births. The focus was placed on the heroes who responded to the attacks and how their actions, and those of everyday heroes, make the world a better place. The students then crafted memorial cards in honor of those who died. The cards are on display at Tamaqua Borough Hall, 320 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. KATHY KUNKEL/TIMES NEWS
