Relay for Life kickoff slated for Sept. 27

The Relay for Life for Tamaqua and surrounding areas will hold a kickoff at 6 p.m. Thursday at Leiby’s Ice Cream House and Restaurant. Lots of exciting things are in store for the 2019 relay, including a new name, a new time of year, new theme and new luminaria plans. What went well and what could be improved upon from the 2018 relay will also be discussed.

“This is an exciting time of year as we get ready to make relay a reality for 2019. There are so many great things planned — including a name change to reflect our region and include our friends from neighboring communities that may have lost their relay in their backyard. We are hoping to see some new faces and encourage groups like churches, fire companies and families to form a team. Also, we encourage anyone that wants to participate but doesn’t have anyone to form a team with to attend and be part of the Friends of the Committee team. There is a place for everyone to be involved,” Co-Chairperson Lori Kane said.

Ice cream will be provided to those in attendance. Please RSVP ensure proper seating to Co-Chairperson Lori Kane at relaylorikane@gmail.com, call her at 570-449-1776, or Danelle Kane at psunells@yahoo.com.
