1 to 4 inches of snow possible Christmas Eve

Accumulating snow is expected Sunday night. Forecast snowfall amounts range between 1 and 4 inches with the highest accumulations expected at higher elevations along the I-80 corridor and west of I-287. There is a potential for rain and sleet to mix in and cut down on accumulations farther south into the Lehigh Valley and closer to I-287 in New Jersey. Nonetheless, slippery travel is expected.

Strong west-northwest winds on Monday may gust up to 50 mph, especially during the morning and early afternoon. Tonight: A chance of rain, mainly before 8pm. Areas of fog before 8pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Northwest wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 39. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Sunday Night: Snow, mainly after 8pm. Low around 27. East wind 6 to 8 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Christmas Day: A chance of snow before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 32. Breezy, with a west wind 13 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 15. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 27.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 12.
