With the prolonged drought creating an increasingly serious depletion of the local water supply, Tamaqua Borough Council today announced an immediate ban on all types of hoses. The ban includes use of hoses for washing cars, pavements, watering lawns, and all other purposes. Council took the action after being advised that the larger storage reservoir at Owl Creek is dropping at the rate of a foot a week. Borough Manager Marvin Milam said based on current use, there is less than 100 days' supply of water.
