If you find yourself at Redner’s Warehouse Market in Nesquehoning this weekend and in need of a break from ticking items off your grocery list, take a moment to listen to one man’s compelling story.
Jeff Kalage, of Jim Thorpe, received a liver transplant on Easter Sunday in 2016. He will spend his Saturday managing a table in the market to educate others about the possible impact of organ and tissue donations on behalf of the Gift of Life Program, a Philadelphia-based organ procurement organization.
“Since I was a teenager, I have always been someone who likes to help other people,” Kalage told Times News in March. “Of course, now I feel so appreciative and so grateful to so many people for my second chance at life. My daughter, Ashley Craigie and my son, Michael and I volunteer to work for the Gift of Life donor program.”
Kalage’s table will feature materials about the program and giveaways. It will up from 8 a.m. until noon.
