Danielle Nicole appears at 8 p.m. Saturday with her band at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe.

A 2014 Blues Music Award winner, there's not a time in her life that singer/bassist/songwriter Nicole doesn't remember loving to perform.Nicole comes from generations of singers. Her grandmother, Evelyn Skinner, was a big band singer. Her mother, Lisa Swedlund, taught her everything she knew while growing up and listening to all different kinds of music from the Everly Brothers to the B-52s.Nicole began singing in coffeehouses age 14, jamming with her parents whenever she could at clubs that would allow minors. In March 1999, she started her own band, Fresh Brew, with Kansas City music veterans, even representing Kansas City in the International Blues Challenge. It was during this time that she and her brothers, Nick and Kris, formed a family band that would eventually become Trampled Under Foot. Toughened by years of nonstop roadwork, their last album, "Badlands," revealed a musical sophistication well beyond the band's years. As Trampled Under Foot wound down after 13 years, Nicole formed her own band and now makes a much anticipated appearance at the opera house in the support of the September 2015 release of a New Orleans-flavored, blues-soul based album, "Wolf Den," featuring Grammy-winning producer-guitarist Anders Osborne of Greensky Bluegrass; Galactic's co-founding drummer Stanton Moore; and her regular keyboardist Mike "Shinetop Jr." Sedovic.David Mayfield Parade next weekendIf you've seen David Mayfield perform with The Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, or at Bonnaroo, you've caught the charisma, the heart, and the comedy, and you probably want to come back for more. You're in luck.Mayfield will perform at the opera house at 8 p.m. June 11.This singer-songwriter, band leader, and Grammy-nominated producer also happens to be as fine an acoustic guitarist as has appeared at the opera house. His roots are buried deep in the bluegrass tradition from a childhood of touring with his family's band. With the release of his latest album, "Strangers," Mayfield is clearly going places, fueled by a combination of infectious energy and songwriting chops that only come around once in a blue moon.He oozes personality on stage - a trait that makes him a natural frontman. He displayed his skills and personality when he joined the bluegrass outfit, Cadillac Sky, playing sold-out shows with British folk revivalists, Mumford and Sons.Conscious of not just being a musician, but an entertainer - something his father instilled in him in the family band - Mayfield certainly makes an impression live. But it's the strength of his songwriting and musicianship, combined with that charm and personality that keep audiences consistently lining up to join the parade.Coming up this month• June 16, Al Stewart• June 18, Hackensaw Boys• June 19, 40 Story Radio Tower with Jeffrey Gaines• June 24, Savoy Brown with Kim Simmonds• Who's Next - Salute to the WhoTickets are available on the opera house website at
