Pleasant Vy. announces Hall of Fame class
The Pleasant Valley School District has announced its 2018 Hall of Fame class.
The ceremony will take place on Friday during a girls/boys basketball doubleheader against Stroudsburg. This year’s class will be honored at halftime of the boys game. The girls game will start at 5:30 p.m. and the boys game at 7 p.m
Mr. Joe Scheks
Joe was an art instructor at Pleasant Valley High School for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Joe attended Saucon Valley High School, and attended Kutztown University where he graduated in 1966. He came to Pleasant Valley immediately upon graduation to teach art.
While in high school, Joe was a four-year letter winner in track and field collecting 12 medals, eight of which were gold in both leagues and districts. He was a silver medalist at states in the long jump and still holds the school record at Saucon Valley High School after 58 years. At Kutztown University, Joe competed on their track and field team for 4 years and was inducted into the Kutztown University Hall of Fame in 2017.
Joe currently resides in Bath with his wife Judy of 48 years. He has four children, and eight grandchildren
Honors Received
While at Pleasant Valley, Joe served as an Art Instructor for 30 years. He also was the Art Department Head, and was also a member of the Principals Advisory Committee, the Curriculum committee, and a PVEA contract negotiator. Joe started the Track and Field team at PV and was the head coach for 18 years. His biggest accomplishment came in 1984 as he coached the girls’ track and field team to an undefeated season, the first in any sport in Pleasant Valley’s history. Joe also started the wrestling program at PV and was the head coach for eight years. Joe feels his biggest accomplishment at PV is the many relationships he still has with former students whom he helped mold throughout his teaching career.
Dr. Annette Borger
Annette graduated from Pleasant Valley in 1988. She attended Penn State University, where she received her Bachelors of Science degree. Annette was awarded her Doctor of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson University Medical College and completed her residency at the University of Louisville affiliated hospitals in Internal Medicine Pediatrics in 1999. She worked at the Berwick hospital as the Chief of Pediatrics, and currently works for the Lehigh Valley Physicians Group in Brodheadsville.
Dr. Borger is certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. She also holds a PA State Medical License.
Annette was preceded into the PV Hall of Fame by her father, Roger Borger, who was Director of Buildings & Grounds at Pleasant Valley. She would like to thank both her mother and father for their encouragement of her goal of becoming a doctor.
Dr. Borger currently resides in Kunkletown with her husband Peter DeSanto Jr. and their four children.
Honors Received
While at Pleasant Valley, Dr. Borger was valedictorian of her class, as well as a National Merit Semifinalist. She was a member of the National Honor Society, SADD, Mock Trial, Marching Band, Math League, and the school newspaper. Annette also lettered in field hockey, track and field, and basketball
Mrs. Christine Rebori-Smith
Christine graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2003. She attended Palm Beach Atlantic University where she received her B.S. in Sports Management. She attended Texas A&M University where she earned her Master’s in Business Administration in 2009. Christine has worked at Texas A&M University, Lindenwood University, and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in the athletic departments, and currently works for the Smith Athletic Consulting company.
Christine made numeroud area basketball all-star teams, and was also a second team All-MVC player for girls’ soccer in 2001. She was a member of the three-time MVC champion girls basketball team at PV, as well as the District 11 championship team in 2003. Christine went on to play basketball for Palm Beach Atlantic University where she was a captain.
Christine currently resides in Randolph, Massachusetts with her husband, Chad Smith, and their twin daughters Harper and Reagan.
Honors Received
While at Pleasant Valley, Christine was the Vice President of the National Honor Society, the sports editor for the Yearbook and a DARE role model. Christine was also a four-year letter winner in basketball and also participated in girls’ soccer as well as being the manager for the boys’ soccer team.
Mrs. Kelly Rebori-Pitt
Kelly graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2003. She attended Palm Beach Atlantic University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2007. She went on to attend Law School at Nova Southeastern University and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2010. She currently works as an attorney in Massachusetts.
Kelly was a Pocono Record 1st Team Girls’ Basketball player for three years, as well as the Co-Player of the Year for the Pocono Record along with her sister Christine in 2002. Kelly was also a 2nd team all MVC player for Girls’ Soccer in 2000 and a 1st team MVC player in 2001. She was a member of the three-time MVC Champion girls’ basketball team at PV, as well as the District XI champion team in 2003.
Kelly currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts with her husband of four years, Michael Pitt, and their twin children Braylen and Kennedy.
Honors Received
While in high school, Kelly was a member of the National Honor Society, Special Olympics volunteer, Math League, and a DARE role model. Kelly earned a full academic scholarship to attend Palm Beach Atlantic University. Kelly was also a four-year letter winner in basketball and a two-year letter winner in girls’ soccer.
Ms. Anndrea Yetter
Anndrea graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2004. Anndrea attended Lehigh University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Social Phycology in 2008. She went on to attend the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts, where she was certified as a Chef. Anndrea continued her education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the Maryland University of Integrative Health, where she earned her MS in Nutrition and Integrative Health, as well as her Certified Nutrition Specialist Certification. Currently, Anndrea is working as a culinary Nutritionist and a Private Chef.
While in college, Anndrea played soccer for both Moravian College and Lehigh University, and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. She was involved in the Grassroots soccer program in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, a nonprofit US based program that uses soccer to educate, inspire and mobilize at risk youth in developing countries to overcome their greatest health challenges and be agents for change in their communities.
Anndrea currently resides in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
Honors Received
While at Pleasant Valley, Anndrea was a four-year letter winner in soccer, basketball and cross country. She also lettered one year in track and field, giving her 13 letters, the most in Pleasant Valley history. In soccer, she was a team captain and helped to lead the team to the MVC championship two consecutive years, as well as second place in the District 11 Tournament. She was an MVC 1st team representative, as well as the Soccer Scholar Athlete for the MVC. In basketball, she was a four-year MVC champion, as well as a member of the 2003 District 11 championship team. She was chosen to the MVC and Pocono Record 2nd Team All Stars, and won the Grizzly Bear award during her sophomore year. In Cross Country, she was a captain and member of the MVC championship team in 2002. She also won the Grizzly Bear award during her sophomore year. Anndrea was also a member of the National Honor Society, FBLA, a Life Skills Class Volunteer, and a Special Olympics Volunteer.
